Last year UMD engineering students WON the national Deloitte Undergraduate Case Competition. Stop by and learn how you can be part of a winning team while perfecting your case interview skills. We can also answer questions you have about applying for jobs and internships next fall.
What is a Case Competition? A team of 4 undergraduates are given a sample business problem and within an allotted period of time, they try to develop the best solution. A current Deloitte employee will serve as a coach and act as the client. A basic example might be a company that wants to replace their electronic inventory system. Your job would be to figure out what kinds of questions to ask to clarify the problem, identify underlying assumptions, summarize the issues, and present your recommendations. This is amazing practice if you want to apply in the future to any consulting companies.
Requirements Freshmen and sophomores Any major 3.3 GPA strongly preferred
Timeframe Deadline to apply is Wednesday, January 31. Kickoff event is Friday, February 2. Local competition is Friday, February 9. Winners will be invited to an all-expenses paid national case competition in Westlake, TX, March 8-10.
